Etsy Stats Explained: What POD Sellers Should Track Weekly
Etsy Stats explained in plain English: visits, views, conversion rate, traffic sources and search terms, plus a 15-minute weekly routine for POD sellers.
By the POD Made Easy team · September 24, 2026 · 11 min read

Etsy Stats lives in Shop Manager → Stats and answers three questions: how many shoppers came (visits, orders, conversion rate and revenue), where they came from (traffic sources and the search terms they used), and which listings they viewed, saved and bought. For a print-on-demand shop, the job is simple: see which listings get found, which get favorited and which sell, then fix the gaps.
Here’s every Etsy stat explained in plain English, how the page is laid out as of September 2026, a 15-minute weekly routine and the decision rules that tell you when to refresh, expand or retire a listing.
Key takeaways
- Visits are browsing sessions; listing views count every listing page opened. Conversion rate is orders divided by visits.
- Traffic sources show where visits started. “Etsy search” excludes app searches and ads, so treat it as a big sample rather than the whole picture.
- The search terms list under Etsy search is the best free keyword data you have: real phrases that brought real shoppers to you.
- Check stats weekly for 15 minutes, but make big decisions monthly. Small numbers swing a lot.
- Refresh listings that get found but not clicked, expand listings that sell, and retire listings that stay invisible after two refreshes.
Where to find Etsy Stats and how the page is laid out
On Etsy.com, open Shop Manager and choose Stats. In the Etsy Seller app, tap More, then Stats. At the time of writing the web version has three main sections:
- Metrics overview: visits, orders, conversion rate and revenue for the date range you choose, with a graph for each. Shops open for more than a year can switch on “Compare to previous period”.
- How shoppers found you: visits by traffic source, a breakdown of each source and, under Etsy search, the search terms shoppers used.
- Shoppers viewed your listings: views, favorites, orders and revenue for each active listing, sortable by any of those columns.
Etsy has been adding to Stats through 2026: side-by-side graphs that compare visits, orders, conversion rate and revenue, AI-generated key takeaways, and a Stats assistant you can ask questions in plain English. These are rolling out gradually or still in testing, so your page may not show them yet. Etsy’s own guide to using Etsy Stats describes the current layout.

Every Etsy stat in plain English
| Metric | Etsy’s definition, simplified | What it tells a POD seller |
|---|---|---|
| Visits | Unique browsing sessions in your shop. Several listings viewed in one session count as one visit. | How many shopping trips reached you. The base for conversion rate. |
| Listing views | Every time one of your listings is opened. | Which designs pull clicks from search and browsing. |
| Listing views per visit | Views divided by visits. | Whether shoppers browse more of your shop. Higher usually means a coherent niche. |
| Orders | Completed purchases, not items. Three shirts in one checkout is one order. | Your real sales count. |
| Revenue | Total sales, minus shipping and tax. | Item revenue before Etsy’s fees and your provider’s costs, so it isn’t profit. |
| Conversion rate | The percentage of visits that ended in an order. | How well your shop turns interest into sales. Compare it with your own history. |
| Favorites | How many times shoppers saved a listing. | Interest that hasn’t turned into a purchase yet, and an early signal for new listings. |

Two details trip people up. Visits refresh a few times a day, and Etsy filters bot traffic again at the end of each day, so a visit count can drop slightly overnight. And while hourly stats for recent days use your own time zone, longer date ranges are reported in UTC, so a “day” in Stats may not match your calendar day. Etsy’s Shop Stats glossary has the official definitions.
Traffic sources: where your visitors come from
Each traffic source shows where a shopper first came from to reach Etsy, and selecting one shows the page they were on right before landing on your shop or listing. At the time of writing Etsy groups them like this:
| Traffic source | What it includes | What to do with it |
|---|---|---|
| Etsy search | Searches on Etsy.com. Excludes Etsy Ads and searches in the Etsy app. | Your keyword health check. Read its search terms every week. |
| Etsy app & other Etsy pages | Everything in the app (including app searches, favorites and app ad clicks), plus category pages, the home page and other Etsy.com pages | Often a large source. Growth here usually means your listings are showing in app searches and recommendations. |
| Etsy marketing & SEO | Offsite Ads on Google and Bing, and visits from search engines | Shows how often Google and Bing send shoppers. Clear titles and descriptions help here. |
| Etsy Ads | Clicks on your ads in search results on Etsy.com. App ad clicks are counted under the app instead. | Compare with your Etsy Ads dashboard, knowing the numbers won’t match exactly. |
| Offsite Ads | Visits from Etsy’s ads on sites like Google and Facebook | Check the Offsite Ads dashboard for the orders they produced and the fees charged. |
| Social media | Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and other social sites, including your own posts and Offsite Ads shown there | Measures your own promotion. Pinterest traffic usually shows up here. |
| Direct & other traffic | Typed or bookmarked links, email links, blogs and other websites | Newsletter and word-of-mouth traffic lands here. |

The first row is the one to understand. Because app searches are counted under “Etsy app & other Etsy pages”, the Etsy search figure and its search terms cover only part of your search traffic, so treat the terms as a large, useful sample rather than a complete list. Etsy also says that searching for your own listings isn’t a reliable test, because results are personalized for each shopper; Stats is the more accurate view.
Search terms: the free keyword report most sellers skip
Under “How shoppers found you”, select Etsy search to see the search terms that brought shoppers to your listings. It’s the most direct keyword data Etsy gives you for free, because it shows what real buyers typed rather than what a tool estimates. Use it in three ways:
- Keep what works. Terms that bring steady visits should stay in the title and tags of the listings they reach.
- Add close variants. If “retired teacher shirt” brings visits, test “teacher retirement gift” or “retired librarian shirt” in spare tags.
- Remove mismatches. If a term brings visitors your design can’t satisfy, rework the tag or title phrase that attracts it.
| Search term | Visits in 30 days | Action |
|---|---|---|
| retired teacher shirt | 18 | Keep; it’s already in the title |
| teacher retirement gift | 11 | Add as a tag and test it in the title |
| funny book shirt | 4 | Keep as a tag; broad but relevant |
| teacher shirts for kids | 3 | Mismatch: the design is for adults, so drop the tag attracting it |

Two more free sources complement it. If you advertise, the Etsy Ads dashboard shows search terms for each advertised listing over the last 30 days, with click and sales rates where there’s enough traffic. And Marketplace Insights, under Stats, shows how many searches and listings a keyword had in the last 30 days, with related terms and trends; at the time of writing you get 15 free keyword searches a week, or unlimited with Etsy Plus. Our guides to Etsy keyword research and choosing all 13 Etsy tags show how to turn these terms into better listings.

The listings table is where POD decisions get made. Sort it by views, then read each listing as a small funnel:
- Views tell you whether the listing is being found and clicked.
- Favorites tell you whether the design and photo won real interest.
- Orders tell you whether price, shipping and trust closed the sale.
Select a listing for a more detailed look at its performance over time. The table shows active listings, and you can filter to expired or sold-out ones when you want to review older designs. Listing views update in real time, so you’ll see the effect of a new first photo within days, even though you should wait longer to judge it.
A 15-minute weekly Etsy Stats routine
Pick a fixed slot, such as Sunday evening, and follow the same steps each week:
| Minutes | Check | What you’re looking for |
|---|---|---|
| 0–2 | Metrics overview: last 7 days vs the week before | Big changes in visits or orders. Anything odd gets a note, not a reaction. |
| 2–5 | How shoppers found you | A source that jumped or collapsed, such as a pin taking off |
| 5–9 | Etsy search terms | Two or three new phrases for your keyword list, and any mismatches |
| 9–13 | Listings sorted by views | Your top five and bottom five: views, favorites and orders |
| 13–15 | Decide | One to three actions for the week: refresh one listing, expand one winner, note one to retire |
Weekly for noticing, monthly for deciding.
Keep a simple log with one row per week: visits, orders, conversion rate, your top search term and the action you took. After two or three months, it shows you what actually moves your numbers.
Once a month, switch the date range to the last 30 days and make the bigger calls using the rules below. Small shops see a lot of week-to-week noise: on 50 visits, a single order moves your conversion rate from 0% to 2%.
Decision rules: refresh, expand or retire
These rules of thumb assume a listing has been live for at least 30–60 days. They aren’t Etsy benchmarks, just a consistent way to decide.
| Pattern over 30 days | What it usually means | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Under 20 views | The listing isn’t being found | Refresh: a new title and tags built from real search terms, every relevant attribute, the most specific category |
| 100+ views, few or no favorites | Found, but not winning interest | Refresh the first photo, and check that the search terms match what the design offers |
| Favorites, but no orders | Interest without commitment | Check price against page one, shipping cost and delivery date, the size chart and your reviews |
| Orders coming in | A proven design for a real buyer | Expand: new colors, new products such as a mug or sweatshirt, and spin-off designs for the same buyer |
| No better after two refreshes (about 90 days) | Weak demand or a weak design | Retire: let it expire instead of renewing it, and reuse the keyword on a new design |
Rules of thumb for small POD shops.

- Share & Save. Clicks, orders, revenue and fees saved from the trackable links you share. It’s how you measure your own promotion, such as the routine in our Pinterest plan for Etsy sellers.
Common Etsy Stats mistakes
- Judging on a day or a week. Use 30-day windows for decisions and year-over-year comparisons for trends.
- Searching for your own listings to check your rank. Results are personalized, so trust Stats instead.
- Reading revenue as profit. Revenue excludes shipping and tax, but not Etsy’s fees or your provider’s costs.
- Chasing visits instead of fit. A viral pin can double your visits and halve your conversion rate without changing sales at all.
- Changing five things at once. Change one thing per listing so you know what worked.
- Comparing seasonal listings with quiet months. Judge a Halloween design in October, not in March.
Frequently asked questions
- How often do Etsy stats update?
- Visits refresh a few times a day, and Etsy filters out bot traffic again at the end of each day, so today’s visit count can drop slightly. Listing views update in real time. Hourly stats use your own time zone; longer date ranges are shown in UTC.
- Why don’t my Etsy Ads clicks match the Etsy Ads visits in Stats?
- They measure different things. Two ad clicks within 30 minutes count as one visit, and in Stats, visits from ads clicked in the Etsy app are counted under Etsy app and other Etsy pages rather than Etsy Ads.
- Can I see which search terms led to sales on Etsy?
- Shop Stats lists the Etsy search terms that brought visits. For advertised listings, the Etsy Ads search terms report shows how each term performed over the last 30 days, including click and sales rates where there’s enough traffic.
- What is Etsy Marketplace Insights?
- A tool under Stats that shows real Etsy search data for a keyword: searches and listings over the last 30 days, related terms and trends. At the time of writing you get 15 free keyword searches a week, or unlimited with Etsy Plus, and some features are still in testing.
- What’s a good number of views for an Etsy listing?
- There’s no official benchmark, because it depends on niche, season and price. Compare listings within your own shop: one with under 20 views in 30 days isn’t being found, while one with hundreds of views and no favorites has a thumbnail, design or relevance problem.
