Print-on-Demand Seasonal Calendar 2026–27: When to List
A print-on-demand seasonal calendar for Oct 2026 to Sept 2027: verified holiday dates, when to list, and a safe order-by date for every big event.
By the POD Made Easy team · September 24, 2026 · 13 min read

A print-on-demand seasonal calendar has to track three dates for every holiday, not one: when you design, when your listings go live and the last day a buyer can order and still get the item in time. For most gift holidays that means designing about three months ahead, listing six to eight weeks ahead and setting an “order by” date roughly two weeks before the day, because print-on-demand adds production time before shipping even starts.
Below is a verified calendar for October 2026 through September 2027 with each event’s date, when shoppers start looking, when to have listings live and a suggested order-by date for US standard shipping. After that you’ll find how the dates are worked out, what each season needs, a month-by-month work plan sized for a 5–10 hour week, and what to do with seasonal listings once the day has passed.
Key takeaways
- Every event has three dates: design about three months out, list six to eight weeks out (eight to ten for Christmas) and stop promising delivery about two weeks before the day.
- POD adds an order-approval delay plus production time (typically 2–7 business days at Printify) before a carrier even picks the parcel up.
- Key dates: Halloween Oct 31, Thanksgiving Nov 26, Black Friday Nov 27, Christmas Dec 25, Valentine’s Day Feb 14, Mother’s Day May 9 and Father’s Day June 20.
- Teacher Appreciation Week, Nurses Week and Mother’s Day all land in the first half of May 2027, so March is the busiest listing month of spring.
- Deactivate seasonal listings after the holiday instead of deleting them: a renewed listing keeps its favorites, view count and web address.
The 2026–27 calendar at a glance
Every date in this table has been checked for 2026–27. The “shoppers start looking” column is our planning estimate rather than Etsy data, so use it as a guide and compare it with your own stats after each season.

Order-by dates allow 10 business days (1 for order approval, up to 5 for production, up to 4 for US standard transit) and skip weekends and federal holidays. Slow print partners and peak weeks need earlier dates. Shopper timing is our estimate.
How the order-by dates are worked out
Every row in the table comes from the same backward calculation. Start from the day the buyer needs the item in hand, usually a day or two before the event, then subtract the time your side of the chain takes:
- Order approval. Printify holds new orders for 24 hours by default before sending them to production, which gives you time to fix an address or a personalization. You can shorten it, but count a day.
- Production. Printify says most orders ship within 2–7 business days, and longer in busy seasons. Check your print partner’s current production time before you set dates.
- Transit. US standard shipping from Printify typically takes 2–5 business days after dispatch.
- Buffer. The table uses 10 business days in total, which sits in the middle-to-upper part of those ranges. In December, or with a partner that runs slow, add three to five more.
Here’s the Thanksgiving row as a worked example. A family wants its shirts by Tuesday, November 24, before everyone travels. Counting back 10 business days, and skipping Veterans Day on November 11 because USPS doesn’t deliver regular mail on federal holidays, lands on Monday, November 9:
| Step | Date |
|---|---|
| Buyer orders | Mon, Nov 9 |
| Order approval delay (1 business day) | Tue, Nov 10 |
| Production (up to 5 business days) | Ships by Wed, Nov 18 |
| US standard transit (up to 4 business days) | Delivered by Tue, Nov 24 |
A planning example, not a promise. Replace the ranges with your print partner’s current times.
That’s the date to put in your listings and shop announcement, even though Thanksgiving itself is more than two weeks later. There’s a faster lane on a few products: at the time of writing, Printify Express Delivery produces and delivers two of its most popular tees, in their best-selling colors, within 2–3 business days to the US mainland, including Etsy orders, for $3.24 more than standard shipping. That can add about a week of selling time for those products.
Fall and the holidays: October to December 2026
This is the stretch most POD shops plan their year around, and it has already started.
- Fall (now to Thanksgiving). Generic autumn designs have no single deadline, which makes them the most forgiving thing to list in late September. Start with our fall shirt ideas.
- Halloween (Saturday, October 31). In the National Retail Federation’s 2026 survey, 49% of Halloween shoppers planned to start in September or earlier, so this year is a late start. Treat it as a short test with an order-by date around October 15, and use our Halloween shirt ideas and late-season plan to set up for 2027.
- Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26). A short season with big baskets, because one family set can cover six or eight people. List by late October: Thanksgiving shirt ideas.
- Black Friday to Cyber Monday (November 27–30). A sales event rather than a delivery deadline, and discounts come straight out of POD margins. Run the numbers with our Etsy Black Friday playbook before you commit.
- Hanukkah (begins at sundown on Friday, December 4). Three weeks earlier than Christmas, so its order-by date (around November 18) falls before Thanksgiving. It’s easy to miss if you plan only around December 25.
- Christmas (Friday, December 25). USPS recommends sending by December 17 for Ground Advantage, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express within the contiguous US. Take production off that and a standard order-by date lands around December 9, or December 7 with a two-day safety buffer. Niches and a full Q4 timeline are in our Christmas print-on-demand ideas.
Winter and early spring 2027: Valentine’s Day to Easter
- Valentine’s Day (Sunday, February 14). With the 14th on a Sunday, class parties will likely move to Friday the 12th, and Galentine’s Day falls on Saturday the 13th, so plan deliveries for the 12th and an order-by date around January 29. Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for the same day, which is a design angle as long as you avoid league and event marks. See our Valentine’s Day print-on-demand ideas.
- Mardi Gras and Pancake Day (Tuesday, February 9). A regional event in the US and a light-hearted one in the UK. Worth a few designs only if you know the audience well.
- Mothering Sunday in the UK (Sunday, March 7). It comes two months before US Mother’s Day, so UK-facing designs need to be live by late January. Our Mother’s Day print-on-demand ideas cover both dates.
- St. Patrick’s Day (Wednesday, March 17). Many celebrations happen on the weekend before, so treat Friday, March 12 as the delivery target.
- Easter (Sunday, March 28). An early Easter pulls spring designs forward: have them live by mid-February. Faith-based buyers are a big part of this season; see our Christian shirt ideas for wording and licensing tips.
May and June 2027: the busiest gift weeks of spring
Three events overlap in the first half of May 2027: Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2–8 by the National PTA’s dates, so the school days are May 3–7), Nurses Week (May 6–12) and US Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 9). Their order-by dates fall between April 16 and April 22, so the design and listing work for all three belongs in March.
- Teacher Appreciation Week. Gifts come from parents and schools as well as teachers buying for themselves: teacher shirt ideas.
- Nurses Week. Unit and specialty designs, plus group orders from managers: nurse shirt ideas.
- Mother’s Day. Personalized designs with kids’ names, plus grandmas, who are a market of their own: grandma shirt ideas.
- Graduation (May to June). Class of 2027 seniors and, above all, their families. Never use a school’s name, logo or mascot without a license: graduation shirt ideas.
- Father’s Day (Sunday, June 20, in both the US and UK). Hobby designs and dad humor, with an order-by date around June 3: Father’s Day shirt ideas.
Summer to fall 2027: July 4, reunions, school and the restart
- Fourth of July (Sunday; the federal holiday is observed Monday, July 5). List by mid-May for family sets and retro Americana: 4th of July shirt ideas.
- Family reunions (June to August). Group orders take time to collect sizes and names, so these listings belong in spring: family reunion shirt ideas.
- Back to school (late July to early September). Start dates vary by district, so treat it as a rolling season for teacher and school-staff designs.
- National Dog Day (Thursday, August 26). A small bump for breed designs; see our dog mom shirt ideas.
- Grandparents Day (Sunday, September 12, the first Sunday after Labor Day). Personalized grandkid-name designs with an order-by date around August 25.
- Fall and Halloween 2027. The cycle restarts. Halloween 2027 is a Sunday; have designs live by early September, since about half of Halloween shoppers start in September or earlier.
A month-by-month work plan for a 5–10 hour week
The first table gives you deadlines. This one tells you what to work on each month, so you’re designing for the season after next instead of rushing the one in front of you.

| October | Christmas variations, Hanukkah, winter | Thanksgiving (by late October), Hanukkah, first Christmas designs | Halloween (November 1) |
| November | Valentine’s Day | More Christmas and winter designs | Thanksgiving (November 27) |
| December | Valentine’s Day, Mothering Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day | Winter designs | Christmas and Hanukkah (after December 25) |
| January | Easter, Teacher Appreciation Week, Nurses Week, Mother’s Day | Valentine’s Day (first week), Mothering Sunday (late January) | Leftover winter-holiday listings |
| February | Mother’s Day, graduation, Father’s Day | St. Patrick’s Day, Easter | Valentine’s Day (February 15) |
| March | Father’s Day, Fourth of July, reunions | Teacher Appreciation Week, Nurses Week, Mother’s Day, graduation | St. Patrick’s Day, Mothering Sunday, Easter |
| April | Fourth of July, back to school | Family reunions | Nothing yet |
| May | Back to school, Grandparents Day, fall | Father’s Day (early May), Fourth of July (mid-May) | Teacher, nurse and Mother’s Day listings |
| June | Fall, Halloween 2027 | Back-to-school designs, ready for early July | Father’s Day, graduation |
| July | Halloween, Thanksgiving 2027 | Back to school, Grandparents Day | Fourth of July |
| August | Christmas 2027 | Fall (mid-August), Halloween (late August to early September) | Back to school (after Labor Day) |
A planning guide. If you only have Sunday afternoons, pick two or three events per quarter and skip the rest.
Two rules keep this manageable. First, finish each batch before its “Publish” month starts, because a listing that goes live late loses the weeks it needed to collect views. Second, skip events that don’t fit your niches. A dog-breed shop can ignore graduation; a teacher shop can’t ignore August.
Get two months ahead without adding hours
POD Made Easy turns a seasonal idea and the exact words into four drafts, then a print-ready file at the exact print-area size with spell-checked text. It writes the title, 13 tags and description with Etsy’s AI-disclosure wording and creates the product in your own Printify shop, so you can batch next season’s designs in one sitting.

A shop made only of holidays is empty half the year. A steadier mix for a side hustle has three layers:
- An evergreen core. Designs for a job, hobby or identity that sell in any month: nurses, teachers, dog breeds, anglers. Our guide to print-on-demand niches shows how to find and validate them.
- Seasonal campaigns. Date-specific designs that spike and stop. They’re worth the effort when they sit on top of an evergreen niche: “nurse + Christmas” or “dachshund + Halloween” reaches a specific buyer at the moment they’re shopping.
- Bridge designs. Themes that span several events. Fall runs from late August to Thanksgiving; winter runs from December into February. A cozy snowy-cabin design can sell before Christmas, after it and right up to Valentine’s Day.

What to do when a season ends
- Hide, don’t delete. On Etsy, deactivating removes a listing from your shop, and reactivating it before its four-month listing period ends is free. If it expires while inactive, you pay $0.20 to renew it, and according to Etsy’s Help Center a renewed listing keeps its original view count, favorites and web address. Printify users can also hide a product from the store with Hide on Etsy in My Products, which keeps the design and settings in Printify.
- Don’t let your provider clean it up. At the time of writing, Printify removes products with no orders after a year without edits, and products with past orders after two years without orders plus a year without edits, after a 30-day warning in the To be removed tab. A seasonal product can hit that limit while it waits for next year, so make a quick edit when you bring it back, or click Retain product if it’s flagged. The Etsy listing itself isn’t deleted, but it would no longer be synced.
- Record what sold before you hide it. Note views, favorites and orders for each design in your Etsy stats. Next year, you’ll start with the winners instead of guessing.
- Update year-dated designs. “Family Christmas 2026” needs a 2027 version; an undated design just needs reactivating.
- Keep the year-round ones live. Black cats, cozy winter scenes and gratitude designs can find buyers after their holiday, so judge them by their stats rather than the calendar.
- Write next year’s dates down now. Halloween 2027 is a Sunday and Thanksgiving 2027 is November 25. The same backward math applies.
UK and international dates
If you sell to buyers outside the US, a few dates move or disappear:
- Mothering Sunday: March 7, 2027 (the fourth Sunday of Lent, three weeks before Easter).
- Father’s Day in the UK: June 20, 2027, the same day as the US.
- Bonfire Night: Thursday, November 5, 2026, a week after Halloween.
- Pancake Day: Tuesday, February 9, 2027.
- Christmas: Royal Mail publishes its last recommended posting dates each autumn. Check them alongside your print partner’s cut-offs.
- Canada: Thanksgiving is the second Monday of October (October 12, 2026 and October 11, 2027).
- Australia: Mother’s Day matches the US (May 9, 2027), but Father’s Day is the first Sunday of September (September 5, 2027).
For international buyers, where an item is printed matters as much as the date. A US-printed shirt shipped to the UK adds days to every deadline above, which is why many UK-facing sellers use UK or European production. Our guide to print-on-demand in the UK compares the options.
Frequently asked questions
- How far in advance should I list seasonal items on Etsy?
- Aim for six to eight weeks before a gift holiday and eight to ten weeks before Christmas. New listings need time to collect views and favorites, and shoppers browse well before they order. Smaller events such as St. Patrick’s Day can go live four to six weeks ahead.
- What is the busiest season for print-on-demand sellers?
- For many Etsy POD shops it’s October to mid-December, peaking around Black Friday and Cyber Monday (November 27–30, 2026) and the first half of December. For gift apparel and mugs, May and June (Mother’s Day, graduation and Father’s Day) are often the next big stretch.
- Is it too late to start selling for the 2026 holidays?
- No. In late September there’s still time to launch fall, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas designs. Halloween is the exception: treat 2026 as a short test and plan a full launch for early September 2027.
- How many seasonal designs should a new shop make?
- There’s no magic number. For a side hustle, 5–10 designs per event in one or two niches you know well is a manageable test. Expand the events that get views and favorites, and drop the ones that don’t.
- Should I put the year on seasonal designs?
- Only when the year is the point, such as a baby’s first Christmas or a Class of 2027 shirt. Undated designs can simply be reactivated next season, while dated ones need a new version every year.
