Is Printify Premium Worth It? 2026 Break-Even Math
Is Printify Premium worth it? See the $39 or $299-a-year cost, what up to 20% off really saves per product, and a break-even table by monthly sales volume.

Printify Premium is worth it once the discount on the products you actually sell is bigger than the fee. At $299 a year (about $24.99 a month), that’s roughly 17 basic tees a month if Premium saves you about $1.50 on each; on monthly billing at $39, it’s about 26. Sell less than that and you’re better off on the free plan, spending the money on samples and new listings.
This guide covers what Premium costs in 2026, exactly what it includes, how much it saves per product type, a break-even table you can read in ten seconds, a worked example for a small Etsy shop, and a quick way to run the numbers with your own orders.
Key takeaways
- Premium costs $39 a month or $299 a year in the US (Printify raised the monthly price from $29 on February 17, 2026).
- It takes up to 20% off most products and up to 33% off select new products; the real saving depends on the product and partner.
- Break-even is simple: monthly fee ÷ saving per item. At about $1.50 per tee, that’s 17 tees a month on yearly billing.
- Yearly billing is up to 36% cheaper, so if Premium pays on monthly billing, it pays even more on yearly.
- The extra perks (10 stores, AI mockups, cheaper inserts, Printify Connect) rarely justify Premium on their own.
How much does Printify Premium cost in 2026?
Premium is billed in your account’s currency. These are Printify’s published prices at the time of writing:
| Billing currency | Monthly | Yearly | Yearly, per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| USD | $39 | $299 | about $24.92 |
| GBP | £29 | £265 | about £22.08 |
| EUR | €34.99 | €299 | about €24.92 |
| CAD | C$49 | C$409 | about C$34.08 |
| AUD | A$55 | A$465 | about A$38.75 |
From Printify’s Help Center, September 2026. Printify’s pricing page rounds the US yearly plan to “from $24.99/month”. US and Canadian subscribers also pay sales tax (under $3 a month on the monthly plan, per Printify).
On February 17, 2026, Printify raised monthly Premium from $29 to $39 and left the $299 yearly price unchanged, so the gap between the two billing options is now wide. The Premium plan article in Printify’s Help Center has the current prices and billing rules.

Printify’s published plan features, September 2026. Discounts vary by product and print partner.
Notice what doesn’t change: your sales channels, the product creator and 24/7 support are the same on both plans. Premium is almost entirely a discount plan, so judge it as one.
How much does Premium save per product?
“Up to 20%” is the ceiling, not the average. The real saving depends on the product and the print partner, and Printify lets you preview both the standard and the Premium price in the catalog before you subscribe. Use those numbers, not the headline.
For a sense of scale: Printify’s own pricing page uses a tee with an $8.77 fulfillment cost as its example. Even at the full 20%, that’s about $1.75 per tee. The table below uses rounder, illustrative savings for common products; replace them with the figures you see in your catalog.
| Product (one print) | Illustrative saving per item | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Basic unisex tee | $1.50 | Catalog: compare standard vs Premium price for your partner |
| Tee at the full 20% off an $8.77 cost | $1.75 | Printify’s pricing page example |
| Crewneck sweatshirt or hoodie | $3.00 | Catalog |
| Matte poster | $1.20 | Catalog |
| Tote bag | $1.00 | Catalog |
| 11 oz mug | $0.90 | Catalog |
Illustrative savings for planning, not Printify quotes. Shipping isn’t part of these figures.
Break-even table: how many sales a month?
The break-even formula is the monthly cost of Premium divided by the saving per item, rounded up. Yearly billing works out to about $24.92 a month; monthly billing is $39.
| Saving per item | Break-even on yearly billing | Break-even on monthly billing |
|---|---|---|
| $0.90 (e.g. mug) | 28 items a month | 44 items a month |
| $1.00 (e.g. tote) | 25 items a month | 39 items a month |
| $1.20 (e.g. poster) | 21 items a month | 33 items a month |
| $1.50 (e.g. tee) | 17 items a month | 26 items a month |
| $1.75 (tee at full 20%) | 15 items a month | 23 items a month |
| $3.00 (e.g. sweatshirt) | 9 items a month | 13 items a month |
Break-even = monthly fee ÷ saving per item, rounded up. Mixed shops: add up the savings across everything you sell in a month.

Sweatshirts and hoodies reach break-even fastest because each one saves more in dollars. A mug-only shop needs far more volume. Most Etsy shops sell a mix, which is why the worked example below adds savings across products.
Worked example: a small Etsy shop through the year
Take an illustrative shop that sells 12 tees, 4 sweatshirts and 6 mugs in a normal month, and three times that from October to December. Using the illustrative savings above, Premium saves $35.40 in a normal month (12 × $1.50 + 4 × $3.00 + 6 × $0.90) and $106.20 in a Q4 month.
| Option | Saved in a year | Premium cost | Net gain |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free plan all year | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| Premium monthly, all year | $637.20 | $468 | +$169.20 |
| Premium monthly, October–December only | $318.60 | $117 | +$201.60 |
| Premium yearly | $637.20 | $299 | +$338.20 |
Illustrative example: 9 normal months at $35.40 saved and 3 Q4 months at $106.20 saved. Your savings depend on your products and partners.
Three lessons. At this volume, yearly billing is the clear winner. Monthly billing all year keeps only half the gain, because in a normal month it loses money ($35.40 saved against $39 paid). And if your sales are heavily seasonal, subscribing monthly just for Q4 beats paying monthly all year, with no long commitment. If you plan to run holiday discounts, the extra margin also gives you room for a sale; our Etsy Black Friday playbook shows the discount math.
The other perks: what are they worth?
Printify bundles several extras into Premium. Be honest about which ones you’d actually use, and value the rest at zero.
- Cheaper inserts and gift messages. $0.10 saved on each. If you add an insert to 50 orders a month, that’s $5.
- Neck label discount (up to 33%). Only matters if you already pay for custom neck labels.
- Printify Connect. Printify’s support team handles order issues on your behalf. Useful at volume; a small shop handles a few issues a month itself.
- 10 stores instead of 5. Relevant only if you run several shops or channels.
- AI mockups and Sellers Club PRO. Nice to have, but free mockups and your own learning time do the same job for most side-hustle sellers.
- 20% off Express Delivery. Worth something if you sell Express-eligible tees to US buyers who pay for speed.
Turn the savings into more listings
Premium lowers the cost of each sale; more good listings raise the number of sales. POD Made Easy turns ideas into print-ready designs with spell-checked text and Etsy-ready titles, tags and descriptions, then creates the product in your own Printify shop at your prices.
Start your free trialWhen to upgrade, and when to wait
Upgrade when you’ve beaten the break-even for two or three months in a row, your best sellers come from one or two partners whose Premium prices you’ve checked, or Q4 is coming and last year’s orders say you’ll clear break-even easily.
Wait when you’re still well below the break-even numbers above, you haven’t found your best sellers yet, or you’re hoping Premium will somehow create sales. It lowers costs; it doesn’t bring buyers. Money spent on samples and better listings does more for a new shop.
The same break-even logic works for other providers’ plans. Printful Growth ($24.99 a month, free for a year once your yearly sales reach $12,000) is covered in our Printful review, and Gelato+ ($19.99–$29.99 a month) in our Gelato review.
Monthly or yearly billing?
- Start monthly if you’re not sure. You can cancel before any renewal, and switching from monthly to yearly later starts the yearly plan immediately, crediting the unused part of your month.
- Go yearly once your volume is steady. It’s up to 36% cheaper, and a yearly plan that you switch back to monthly keeps its benefits until the renewal date.
- Know the fine print. Fees are non-refundable. On Shopify, uninstalling the Printify app cancels Premium automatically; on other channels it doesn’t. If payment fails and retries fail, Premium is canceled.
Check your own numbers in 10 minutes
- Export or list your orders from the last 90 days and count units per product.
- In Printify’s catalog, note the standard and Premium price for each product with the partner you use.
- Multiply each saving by your average monthly units and add them up.
- Compare the total with $24.92 (yearly) and $39 (monthly). If it clears the yearly figure with room to spare, upgrade.
- Re-run your profit per sale with the lower costs and decide whether to keep the margin or lower prices. Our guide to pricing print-on-demand products helps with that decision.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I cancel Printify Premium at any time?
- Yes. Cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next charge; the fee itself is non-refundable. Back on the free plan you keep every platform feature and sales channel, but you pay regular product prices again.
- Does Printify Premium include free samples?
- No. Printify doesn’t offer free samples. Premium members pay their discounted base prices on sample orders, but there’s no extra sample discount, as of September 2026.
- Will Printify Premium change my prices on Etsy?
- No. Premium lowers what Printify charges you for products; your retail prices stay whatever you set. You can keep the saving as extra profit or use it to run sales without dropping below your target margin.
- How many stores can I connect with Printify Premium?
- Up to 10 stores per Printify account, compared with 5 on the free plan. The custom-priced Enterprise plan allows unlimited stores.
- How can I lower Printify costs without paying for Premium?
- Compare print partners for each product, try Printify Choice for eligible best sellers (Printify prices it as the best value in its catalog), and encourage multi-item orders, because additional items from the same partner ship for less.
